Possible Swine Flu?

Don't Even Try It Punk!

We seem to be entering the terrible two's very early. Maybe it is actually linked to head circumference.... His head is the size of a 2 year old.... He has started a new back arching move, and has somehow developed the ability to increase the earth's gravitational pull on his body so he can suddenly weigh 3 times his normal weight! He is also getting very good at going from zero to pissed in nanoseconds, and then pissed to giddy just as fast. We are dealing with a whole new round of hitting as well. I love him, but there are moments I am slightly less crazy about him!

Mother, Can You Spare a Dime?

William and I cleaned out the car today, and while I was busy he found the coin cup! I finally realized what he was doing and pulled 31 cents from his mouth. I then realized he might have swallowed some coins. I took him upstairs and Googled "My baby swallowed a coin". This is actually a very common thing! The trusty old Internet told me I should call his Dr, so I did. She sent us to the Radiologist to get a "Kiddiograph". That's basically a mouth to bottom x-ray. I called Jason and he came with us, thank goodness! We both had to hold him down and he drank his bottle while it happened. They gave us results right away, and it was CLEAR! WhooHoo! Needless to say, William will not be playing around coins again until he stops putting everything in his mouth!

Isolation?

The Swine Flu outbreak is much more prevalent here on the East coast. If you were me would you keep William home more? I usually take him to the park, Barnes and Noble and the Baby Gym every week. Would you still do it? He still puts so much stuff in his mouth and chews his fingers a lot.... What do you think?

How Sweet! Baby's First Expletive....

Yesterday morning as I was getting ready I spilled a container and said very clearly "Oh S**T!" Dear little William was playing at my feet and he surprisingly clearly repeated it! It was of course with his gibberish accent, but it was unmistakably clear! I called to Jason "I think he just said "Oh S**t!" and Jason said "I thought that's what he said!" Oh Dear! So there is now an immediate ban on swearing around here. We will have to dust off the "swears" of our youth. "Shoot","Dingit'', and "Fudge" will have to do for now!

Picking Up Daddy...

There are over 250 Deer on the NIST campus. They were all afraid of Pudd.

I don't see dancing in this kids future!

Zoo Day!

Today Will and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went to the zoo. We spent lots of time at the giant pizza climber area and the petting farm. Will walked all over today and was pretty much wasted by the end of it! He went to sleep as soon as we hit the car. I bought a membership today so we can go as often as we want and the parking will be free.

Haircut?

At what point do you cut the hair? It is so wild and crazy I am still not sure what to do with it. He has a major cowlick on the top too. Cut it or Leave it? And if I do cut it, do I try and do it myself, or pay to have it done by a professional?

One Year Pictures...Finally.

Today I finally took Will for his one year pictures. He has been somehow injuring himself often enough that I wasn't able to do it until now. This morning as I said it out loud, he smacked into the table, thankfully not leaving a mark, but he tried! He was in no mood for it today though so the pictures were sub par. However this did save me money! I will get them back in a couple of weeks and we'll see how we end up. On a different note I am posting some pictures of Will watching Teletubbies. He is so engrossed and I find it funny.

Ball Chasing at Baby Gym...

Will has a major fixation on these small red balls at baby gym. Today he added a new twist though and insisted on spending the entire 90 minutes attempting to hold 2 balls at once. His hands aren't quite big enough to hold them, so he kept dropping them over and over. He would then struggle and struggle to get them both in his arms again. Funny and yet frustrating at the same time.

Belated Easter Eggs...

Grandma and Grandpa Simmons sent Will a box of Easter presents over the weekend. He had a good time opening the eggs and finding Little People figures inside.

Visit with Cousins and a FINAL Birthday Treat!

We took off to Solon and Andrea's for some fun with Cousins today. They also gave William his birthday gift and one more serving of cake! They got him a complete set of beginner art supplies. Once I work up the nerve to let him paint I will show off his masterpieces!

Nothing says Happy Birthday like a chocolate facial!

It's been one of those weeks....

Will in his adorable Lion towel. It was a birthday present from our dear Shefflers.
Will looking slightly blurry, but charming with his first Chocolate Ice Cream Face!

New Crib set, it has different farm scenes quilted all the way around the bumper and skirt. Too cute! Will loves the Kitty and Cow most.

In the center you can see a Mourning Dove that is nesting in our Holly tree outside the balcony. She has 2 or 3 eggs in there. I can't wait to see if babies hatch!
I am finally on the mend. Will fell and hit his eye this morning so the 1 year portraits will soon become the 18 month portraits. He and I went to Target this morning to get a baby gift for a friend and Will proceeded to dump my coffee on the items I was about to purchase for said gift. I finally decided to wash the stuff and give it to her anyway and just explain what had happened. Will also slobbered on my phone enough today to actually short it out, thankfully I still had an old one that can be reactivated. A new one would have been over 100 bucks. Lessons learned: Never let baby teethe on phone, and always keep previous one around if it isn't broken. After dinner tonight we took Will to the town square area and got him his first baby dish of ice cream. I considered a cone, but thankfully decided against it. He was nicely pepped up on sugar afterwards and walked home most of the way. The weather is gorgeous this weekend so I think we will be outside a lot tomorrow, thankfully I am off.

The "Mom Contract" didn't include sick days...

I now have the virus that Pudd had. Ugh! I haven't been so sick in YEARS! I threw up in the CAR in a WIPES CONTAINER! Most of today I have been parenting from the bathroom. Too much information? Perhaps. But all the other mothers will sympathize with me. Will is now watching Teletubbies, and may do so for a few days if this continues! Let's hope it doesn't.

To Leash or Not To Leash?

I have always thought baby leashes were demeaning. And then I lost Pudd. Now they seem like a great idea! Now he is walking, and walking fast! He walked one way around a display at Barnes and Noble, I walked the other to cut him off at the pass, and when I came around, HE WAS GONE! I immediately felt panic! He's cute! He's little! He's friendly! Anyone would love to take him! He usually walks from one end of the kids area, by the trains, to the stage area. So as I came around I expected him to be going toward the stage, but he used his new found motion to turn and start up the main aisle out of the store! Thankfully I saw him in less than a minute, but it was the longest minute of my life! So now, how do I keep tabs on him? Keep him in the stroller, force hand holding, the dreaded leash? What do you think?

Easter 2009

The Easter Bunny left Will's easter basket at Grandpa Happy's house, so he shipped it here!

The Bunny left a Magna Doodle for William and he and Mommy took turns using it much of the day!
Will had a good 2nd Easter. I had to work today and Jason needed to go in to work when I got home so it was a busy day. I did make a ham and rolls though that we all enjoyed. Will ate a chocolate egg with the foil on it today and thankfully I caught it before he swallowed the foil! He has eagerly accepted the chocolate traditions of Easter! Hope everyone had a great one!

Update....

The last week has been challenging. The upside was that Tissa and Tim, my Aunt and Uncle came to visit us! The downside involved lots of pain, and the stomach flu. I had a visit with the Carpal Tunnel surgeon on Monday and he did a steroid injection in my right wrist. For a while there the cure was FAR worse than the disease! My wrist was terribly painful and swollen. After a few days though it was feeling great, better than it has in years! No numbness, no shooting pains in my arms, and I can bend my middle finger again! As for William he threw up on Sunday, and continued to vomit and have nasty diapers the rest of the week. Wednesday we had our first "Vomit in the Night" experience as parents. It involved changing all bedding, clothes, and a mini bath. Not fun in the middle of the night. Will and I joined Tim and Tissa in DC on Thursday, but bowed out the rest of the days. Will started a severe bout of diarrhea this morning, so we are hoping it all clears up soon! The doctor said it has been going around the entire region, so I guess it was inevitable that we brought it home.
