Trauma: Life in the Hair Salon...

Note: My hand literally holding him up in the chair...

A few moments of distraction...then all hell broke loose!
You would never know he was screaming bloody murder just 15 minutes before!
The finished product.
I decided William needed a haircut today and took him over to the hair salon. He had his first experience with trimmers today and it didn't go well! I think it just freaked him out, it is kind of a strange sound and sensation. Between myself and the stylist we managed to get him cleaned up with only a few little slips of the trimmer. I think I may just do it at home from now on. It was so traumatic and I think I do a decent job for a lot less money!

Funny Face...

This is one of William's newest faces. If you ask him to be charming, this is the face you get! He usually tilts his head to one side too. We walked to Starbucks this morning for my fix and to get William his bunny cheddar crackers. I am really happy they have started carrying more healthy snacks, I never felt great about giving him cookies and chocolate milk every time!

Maybe a Bit Too Much?

So I was writing letters on a piece of paper and asking William which letter it was, and so of course he was answering correctly, so I was praising him. He then said "I'm SO Smart!" Ooops! Guess we have to watch how much we praise him and how much we talk about him when he's around! I don't want him to get full of himself!

My favorite thing came right after that, William will start pointing to the letters and start quizzing YOU! He says " What's this letter?" and you answer and he says "Very Good!" If you get it wrong (on purpose, I hope) he will say "Try Again!" He is just chatting so much these days and it is so fun to hear him....

A Product of His Enviroment....

This young lad should be innocent...
see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil...right?

Well, instead, because of the terrible example his Mother sets for him, he hung off these bars and said: "Crap! Help!"
I only hope we can undo some of the damage we have caused! ☺

Sunny Day...

First time on the big boy swing!
Having a snack...
Maddie has a treat of her own...
Maddie is visiting us each weekday for the next few weeks, William is very nice to her, but isn't too pleased with my attentions being split...

Super Daddy flies through the air with William! He is so strong! (His knees really are off the ground..)

William is contemplating a turn...

It is so great to have our Jason back home! He took today off and we just spent the day playing. William came in early this morning and just snuggled into Daddy's side of the bed, and stayed there for about an hour. I guess he missed him! Our weather has been so fantastic, and we have been outside as much as possible, trying to soak it all in before it gets too hot and muggy. We have been having a baby stay with us during the day while her daycare provider is out of town, and William has been doing pretty well considering what a big change it is for him. It has been a really good test to see if we are ready for another baby around here, and so far the answer is a resounding "NO!". She is very sweet, and I love having baby snuggles, but I am just so happy with the relationship William and I have right now, I don't really want it to end yet. There is so much I would miss, for example: the other day I bought him a wooden 9 piece firetruck puzzle, and I put it out on the table thinking at some point I would show it to him. Well, he found it and took it all apart, and then a little while later I realized it was all back together! He put it all back together on his own! Wow! I felt really bad though for missing it! I wanted to share that moment, and I realized that I am simply not ready to share him yet, or to force him to share me. I do realize that I will only get this opportunity once, to have an only child, and I want to enjoy it for all it's worth! Now, watch me end up pregnant next month! Ha!

First Ice Cream of Summer(?)...

William and I spent our last evening together in a most lovely way. We went to the park, got really dirty, had a great dinner of mac n' cheese and hot dogs, and then went out for ice cream and played in the square till it got too dark. I love this little man so much, and though I was dreading Jason being gone, I am actually quite glad he was. William and I got some lovely Mommy and me time. He is such a great kid, and I love seeing more and more of his personality shine through!

And Now We Are Two...

Fireman William tries to put a stamp on his hand using a pretend poptart...it didn't work.
Fireman William needs a lesson: Point the fire extinguisher AWAY from you!

Sliding down to fight some fires!

Feeding this strange Pelican toy. It has a variety of sea creatures to feed it.

The ever popular ball pit!

Last Thursday we played at the park for a long time, knowing that the rain was on the way.

I found this self portrait on the camera!

We have been busy lately, but not with anything too exciting. William is very busy pretending these days. He uses his garbage truck for a long time every day and brings other random characters in to the scenario. He has a little bunny that helped drive the steam roller behind the garbage truck today. It is really fun to see his imagination taking off! He even says things for the characters. They are simple phrases, but still really fun to watch! Jason is in Portland all this week at a conference, so William and I have been having some special time this weekend. We will both be happier when Daddy comes back home though!

Cute Shot From Today....

A Two Year Old Well Child...

Today was the big "2 year old" Dr visit. I was really excited to see where William stood, especially in his height and weight. He is now 36.5 inches tall (96%), and 30lbs 2oz (76%). His head is still enormous at 51.2cm (>97%)! Huge...poor guy will never find hats when he grows up... Anyway, he is meeting or exceeding all the developmental milestones, which is great. He is FINALLY able to throw, and he can jump with both feet now. His language skills were excellent, but we already knew that. It was really funny because as Dr Rahman was asking the questions he was showing off some of the skills. It was so cute! He got his final Hep A vaccine and now we are totally done till his kindergarten shots! Whoopee! I refused the lead test today since I didn't feel he needed it, and he had to get a shot, I didn't want a blood poke too! After that we took Jason to work and went to the Great Kids Village in Silver Spring again. We had a great time and William slept for 2 hours this afternoon!
