The Longest I Think I Have Ever Gone Without Updating....

Heres What We've Been Up To:

We got a kitten that was abandoned behind a dumpster, and then found her a new foster family...
We rode the Metro into the city with Uncle Tim and Aunt Tissa...

We hung out in the courtyard of the American Portrait Museum while Tim and Tissa toured it...

We drank juice there too!

We opened Birthday presents from Grandma Simmons...

We took Auntie Tissa blueberry picking!

William helped a lot!

The bushes were FULL of berries!

William snuck quite a few berries!

Enjoying his wealth of berries...

William used a real old fashioned water pump!
As you can see we have been very busy, so I haven't been up to doing many posts. We have had a nice visit with Tim and Tissa and now are gearing up for our next visitors who arrive Friday.
We are still trying to figure out what is next for our family, but we are definetly moving out of this apartment. They are increasing our rent far above what I am willing to pay, so I am searching now for a new place. Wish us luck!

BREAKING NEWS!!! My Talent Will Live On!

Those who know me well, know that I am a talented foot artist. I have very flexible toes and I enjoy drawing with a pen between my toes as a party trick, as well as other various feats with my feet. William has NEVER seen me preform these tricks yet, I don't typically do it often so he has never witnessed it. But today I look over and see this:

I am so proud, and a little choked up knowing that the talent will not die with me! Make Mama proud boy!

In The Night Kitchen...

William has been obsessed with "In The Night Kitchen" for the last couple of months. He refuses to let anyone read it to him, he MUST read it himself! He is so cute when he reads it, and the lighting seemed good, so here you see the results...

Splash Park!

Rachel and I took the kids to the Germantown Splash Park today. It was SO fantastic! I loved the fact that there was no water deeper than 2 or 3 inches. I felt like I could actually relax and let Will have some freedom and not fear him drowning! I have a feeling we will be going there a lot this summer!

The Prince and the Pea...

William kept sticking his finger up his nose. I didn't really think much of it, since he does it a lot anyway. But this morning he kept doing it, over and over. I finally thought, "Hmmm. I wonder?" and the answer was yes. I looked up his nose and there was a little pea peeking at me. I thought about trying to get it out myself, but I figured I see the Dr. I was scared of pushing it further in! So, I called Jason, he came and picked us up and we ran up to Dr Rahman's. She got it out pretty quick, and it only took 2 of us to hold him down, so I think it was a success! I hope we never have to go through that again!

One Puddle Too Many...

On the ever popular Panda...
The Artist at Work...
William and Tyler cleaning up...

Yesterday we went to the Nature Center with William's little buddy from across the hall, Tyler. He is such a nice little guy, and William just loves him. They have a lot in common, both love sticks, trucks, and fruit snacks, so it is a great match! We did great on the potty training in the morning, but it all seemed to fall apart every afternoon. After the nature center we stopped at a consignment shop and William broke the camels back. He was sitting in a wagon and peed in it, so I had to buy it of course, and it was so embarrassing to leave with a wagon with a puddle in the bottom! So, when we got home with 4 changes of wet clothes, a soaked car seat and the wagon- turned potty, I decided that he just wasn't ready yet and put him back in diapers. Thankfully, he still loves the potty and the experiment doesn't seem to have hurt him at all. I feel relieved to have stopped for a while, and I don't feel like I am constantly on alert any more! We had a lovely evening, got ice cream, and played at the park. The weather was so nice, I could barely go inside!

Happy Birthday Sophie!

Potty Time!

So, a while ago I had heard about this 3 Day Potty Training program. You basically spend 3 days letting your toddler be diaper free and you are on the watch for signs that they need to go. Well, so far, it seems to be a success! William is peeing and pooping on the potty with about 75% success. He has one or two accidents a day, but we are only on day 4 of this, so I think that's actually pretty good! I am still surprised that the pooping seems to be the easiest part for him. I have known kids who pooped in a diaper long after they mastered the peepee part of training. I am so proud of him, and so far we aren't using any rewards other than praise. He is so cute and proud of himself too, and of course LOVES to flush the potty afterwards. I am not saying that we are even close to being potty trained, but I think we are headed in the right direction...

Sorry for the Delay....

In the past couple weeks....

We visited the nature center...

Went to Ikea for easel paper and lunch...

Played at a new playground, which had this cool playhouse!

Worked hard building things...

Spent lots of time with his cool new pirate ship that Mommy scored for 10 bucks!

And William earned his keep doing chores around the house!
We have been so busy since we got home from vacation. I have worked every weekend, and we have had playdates, and lots of errands to run. William is VERY interested in the potty these days, so much of the time he is half naked. We have also started using the pool and he seems to remember some of the basics I taught him last year and can propel himself forward in his swim ring. I will get some pictures of it soon, he looks very comical in his flotation garb. He is talking up a storm and is becoming quite the 2 year old. We have had more fits, and more demands, along with more kisses and hugs. He loves books with a deep passion right now and we seem to read for hours and hours every day. He is finally getting back into drawing, which he seemed un-interested in for a while, so I am glad to see it return. We have been having a lot of stress around here, so it is nice to have this little oblivious person around to remind you that it isn't really important anyway....he just wants another snake made out of the playdough!
