Fear...

Poor William has developed a SEVERE anxiety towards bedtime, and being alone. I am not sure exactly what triggered it, but it seems there is a certain episode of Thomas the Tank Engine that sent him over the edge. He has been a little weird for a while about being left alone in a room, but now he wants to be next to you all the time. So sad. Last night he came into our room and we let him stay, since he was so upset. I snuggled him up in my arms and he said "Thanks Mom for saving me." SO SAD! Who could send him back to his own bed after that? When you ask him what he is so scared of, he says it's one of two things: A cobra chasing him, or Percy and the ghost (from the Thomas movie). Jason and I are trying to reassure him constantly and we put his teddy and kitty on night watch duties tonight. I am sure they are up for the job. I am certain that this too shall pass, but I just ache for him. You can tell these fears are very real to him, and I remember all too clearly being scared to death to get up at night to go to the bathroom, simply because I was certain something was waiting to grab my ankles the minute my feet hit the ground! Yikes! It isn't easy being little.

Poor guy! CONNOR WAKES UP FROM TIME TO TIME TERRIFIED THAT THERE ARE BEES IN HIS ROOM. hE WILL USUALLY GO BACK TO BED THOUGH IF i TURN ON THE LIGHTS AND DO A SEARCH TO BE SURE THERE ARE NONE THERE. Bah! I don't know why that is all in caps. I hope Will is more comfortable soon. Sweet Dreams!(or no dreams as Sophie used to request)

I was considering a night light...not sure if it would help or not. I am glad to hear that bad dreams are a common issue though! I may try a night light and see if it helps at all. We did better last night, he stayed in his bed for most of the night.

Sounds like it is time to hit the library! We have lots of books and even some dvd's on separation, nightmares and even things under beds. I remember before you came along I used to be scared to get out of bed at night because I thought something would grab me from the heating vents in the floor.
