I need ideas for great toys for William for the next stage, specifically to put on his christmas list. When do they start playing with Brio trains and Duplos? I seriously haven't had my daycare in a long time and I only did care for under 2 year olds, so I am really out of touch with what works for the 1-2 year old. Plus I always had girls in my daycare. So, what are your kids favorites, or what were your favorites?

go to the wondertime magazine website and explore the toys section. I should be really classic and send you the fp popcorn popper that lived on top of the fridge our whole childhood :)
Yeah, and it will live on top of mine too! Ugh!
My boys have enjoyed a toy that you have a maze thing and balls go in it. I know that sounds vague. It was at Target and I think it was a parenting magazine toy. The balls sit on top and there is a little hammer to pound them in (hands also work) That has been a lot of amusement for my kids at that age and it isn't too large either. I personally would hold off on the trains and stuff until they are closer to 3. They tend to just take the tracks apart and chew on the trains. Especially with all the lead paint scares that have been going around. Oh yeah, wood puzzles with the knobs work great as well.
Connor loved cars. He would crawl around making car noises even before he could talk! I think boys must be born knowing how to make car noises. He also liked blocks. He didn't build things on his own 'till closer to two but had a great time knocking over anything that Patrick or I built.
