Shadow Boxes

I finished Will's shadow box today. I backed it with a piece of receiving blanket, and put in his little hat, crib card, one of his socks that he wore home, his foot print, and little bracelet, along with his announcement and picture of him in his little bassinet.
This is the one I made from our wedding.

The end result of bathtime- A very sleepy boy.

Today was recovery from the shots yesterday. Will did fine, just some minor swelling, but nothing major. Tomorrow is his appointment with the surgeon for one last follow up. I am sure he will say that all is well. Baby was actually in a very amiable mood today and let me get the kitchen floor mopped, which it needed very badly. I also got the dishwasher unloaded and loaded, and some laundry folded and put away! Amazing! He really responded when Jason came home tonight, it was very sweet. I got a shadow box for my mother's day gift so I can make one for Will like the one I made for our wedding. It is such a great way to have special little things displayed where you can see them, but they don't get dusty or ruined by little hands or paws. I will post a picture when I finish it.

This better be worth it!

Today was Will's first shots! Eeeek! I have given, literally over 1,000 shots in my career and have never had a problem. However, they were not being given to MY baby! It was awful. He never has cried like that before. (He may have actually in the NICU, but I didn't hear it) The good news is that he is now a whopping 12 pounds 13ounces and is now 23.75inches long! WOW! He was 10 pounds just 3 weeks ago. He is sleeping now, but has been very miserable this afternoon. I am expecting a long night, which I am feeling guilty enough to happily accept. Poor little Puddin!

Last night I left Will and went in to my job shadow session. It was much harder to leave him than I thought it would be. After all, I was leaving him with Jason. If it had been with a stranger I don't think I could have done it. The job is interesting, very fast paced. But, I don't get to do a lot of patient care, mostly management stuff, which I have never really enjoyed. I like the nitty gritty of nursing, I love helping people, so reviewing charts isn't really my forte. But, the hours are good, the flexibility is there, and the pay is great. So, this means I will take it. It will only be 2 days a week, and probably only for another year or so until we move again. Will seemed to miss me, he didn't go to sleep all evening and seemed very happy to see me and my breasts again. He fell promptly asleep soon after I arrived home. I now have to do a second interview and then orientation, so the next few weeks will be busy for me.

Our dear friend Ann sent Will a Badger hat and a onesie from Madison. Ironically he was wearing a cow outfit when he recieved the package!

Getting back to a different kind of nursing....

I got the job! Hurray! Now I need to go through orientation and all that crap. I got a 4 dollar an hour raise too! (It's great when you work part-time, they save on benefits so pay you more.) They are also fine with me only wanting to work 2 shifts a week, so that is great. After the interview we went to Sandy Point State Park which is on the Chesapeake Bay. It was nice, breezy, but very little shade available. We brought our favorite picnic food and enjoyed a few hours on the shore.
