Lend Me Your Ears...

Charlie wasn't thrilled to get up so early....

He kept Daddy busy walking the halls while we were waiting to go back...

When that got old, we pulled out his favorite app....

It's a kitty!

Hopefully this is the last time Charlie will be wearing a gown...

Such a cute little patient...

They had all kinds of things to keep the kids entertained while they were waiting to go back to the OR.... This thing was filled with plastic fish, Charlie loved it!

Daddy and I both had to put gowns and hats on to go with Charlie to the OR.  We looked great!

He was back out of surgery really quick!  His little thumb was glowing just like Will's did after his surgery...

He was out like a light...

He woke up quickly, without much crying.  We gave him a bottle, read a book, dressed him and then they gave him the all clear to go home!

Such a Little Goomer!

Eye See We Have a Problem...

After Preschool, on Tuesday, Jason and I picked Will up and we grabbed a quick bite before the eye appointment.  Will got his first smoothie at Panera and loved it! (I make them at home, but this was a big deal getting it out at Panera)

Looking slightly apprehensive in the chair...

Check out that dilation! He was not a fan of the drops, nor the light sensitivity.  Thankfully, I brought sunglasses for him.

Daddy joined him in the chair for the second half of the exam.  That made things easier for everyone.
Will had failed his vision screening at his 4 year old well child exam, so Dr Rahman sent us to Children's to the Opthamologist.  We had explained before hand what would happen, and Will was thrilled that there would be no "fluid shots".  I was feeling hopeful that he would get there, and they would tell us that it had been a fluke and he could see just fine.  Then, as the testing went on, I realized that he really couldn't see well, especially out of the right eye.  He really hated having the left eye patched, and kept asking to make the letters bigger.  It became very clear that there really is a problem.  The Dr said that he has to have glasses, and if he doesn't wear them all the time, he could end with a lazy eye.  Poor Will.  We got the prescription, and took our little man to pick out some nice glasses.  We ended up going to a nice, small shop that specialized in children's glasses.  They had lots of nice ones to pick from, including some funky ones, that thankfully, William didn't like. They didn't have any with diamond lenses and tungsten carbide frames though.  I wanted unbreakable!  We should have the glasses in a week, and it will be very interesting to see how he reacts.  I can't believe that we never had any signs that he couldn't see well, although he has never been good at seeing things right around him, so maybe we just didn't realize what the signs were!

Happy Birthday- The Musical...

Happy 1st Birthday Charlie!

Charlie scored this great Dino Ride On from Grandma...

William was happy to demonstrate the Little Tikes slide from Aunt Tissa...

Charlie got this adorable English post box from Aunt Molly and Uncle Richard...

He and Will both played with it for a long time...and even took turns!

Charlie decided that writing on the wrapping is far more entertaining than actually opening the presents...

Mommy tried to convince him to wear this crown, which lasted about 3 seconds...

William gave Charlie this cool pop up caterpillar toy.  Charlie loves to hit things with hammers!

Charlie was chowing down on all the great BBQ food at his party....

Charlie and his future wife Stella were having fun together on the playground...

Charlie kept checking with Uncle Solon to make sure if all this singing was ok...

Will used his big brother skills on Stella too, including feeding her chips!

Happy Birthday Charlie!
Charlie was pretty sick over the last 24 hours with a high temperature that broke last night.  We decided to go ahead with his party since he wasn't running a fever, but he wasn't in great shape.  I felt so bad for the little man.  We started the day off with a yummy breakfast and then were busy much of the day getting ready for the party and praying that the rain would hold off.  We had a lot of people expected and rain and picnics don't mix!  We got the the park and it looked perfect, kinda windy, but warm and sunny.  People arrived, we ate and then all of a sudden the wind went crazy and a huge rain storm rolled in!  We had to rush to get everyone and everything packed up and we all came back to my house for the cake.  We had to really cram everyone in, but it all worked out.  Charlie was intrigued by all the attention and he seemed to like the singing.  He loved the cake, but soon after he ate it and we wiped off the frosting we realized that he was having an allergic reaction to something in the frosting.  He developed red welts and swelling wherever it had smeared.  Poor baby.  He got a bath, some benadryl and went to bed.  It was a crazy day, but everyone had a fun time and Charlie got lots of love from his people!  Happy Birthday my darling baby!  We are so, so happy that you are our little boy....
